This Week's BLLA Commentary

Don’t ride the wave, be the wave!

In two short weeks, BLLA will gather the most eclectic mix of superstar speakers from every corner of the hospitality world at the Stay Boutique Leadership Conference! From hidden speakeasies to members only clubs and hotels, our speakers have centuries of executive level experience, and are joining us to usher in the next wave in boutique living.

With this conference, the Stay Boutique crew plans to disrupt hospitality in the best way possible. In an age where digital footprint is everything, and consumers hold more power than ever, it’s essential to implement new business practices that will curate an experience that a guest or patron will want to have time and time again.

Convention is the enemy of progress. What worked for a hotel, restaurant or bar twenty years ago does not apply today. One of the great benefits of being boutique is our ability to swiftly adapt to changes in market trends. Our illustrious line up of presenters will arm you with the knowledge you will need to excel in boutique.

A small sampling of what is to come this October:

  • Business Philosophies from a CEO: Bill Walshe, CEO, Viceroy Hotel Group - Through his years of experience leading the luxury hospitality sector, Bill has developed a professional philosophy that is a cornerstone in his recipe for success. As CEO of multiple luxury brands, he has been able to pinpoint practices that earn properties international recognition and 5-star ratings. We’re honored to have Mr. Walshe share some of his invaluable knowledge.

  • Curating Guest Experiences with Simone de La Rue, Founder, Body By Simone (bbs) - Championed by health-conscious celebs, Simone De La Rue has established herself as a force in the fitness world. With multiple locations throughout California and NY and a star-studded rolodex of clients, Simone has ushered in the boutique fitness era. The maven joins us to discuss why cookie-cutter mega gyms are so 2016.
  • The Global Snapshot of the World: Gabriel Haigazian, Vice President, Creative Travel Group, Chad Rodarme, Principal, Byron Travel Group & Nick Kontis, Circle the Planet moderated by Alexandra Cheney - Thanks to technology, the world is “smaller” than ever. With the advent of social media, demand for personalized experiences and memories is at an all-time high. Travel facing businesses like airlines and hotels must continually evolve to keep up with this shift. Gabriel and Chad are not only travel industry insiders but are expert travelers themselves. They join us to talk travel trends, and how to cater to the most worldly of guests. Moderated by: Los Angeles columnist and contributor to The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, InStyle, Conde Nast Traveler, Luxury Magazine, Departures Magazine and Refinery 29.
  • Designing Luxury with John Sofio, President & Founder, Built, Inc. - John Sofio is an award-winning designer known for his “modern organic touch with a soulful design process”. He spends his time transforming spaces into art. His portfolio is awe inspiring, and includes famed establishments like 1OAK, Poppy, Bootsy Bellows and The Nice Guy. One of the most important aspects of providing a boutique experience is the emphasis on design and John dominates design.

With a line up like this, there’s no way you won’t gain from the knowledge that will be imparted by these leaders. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the UCLA Luskin Center from October 3rd through 5th!

This week’s articles showcase some of our presenters and their recent ventures. We are in for one heck of an event! Register today at StayBoutiqueConference.com.

6 Questions with Celeb-Loved Trainer Simone De La Rue

You’ve heard of Simone De La Rue. She’s the celeb-loved trainer behind Body By Simone who’s sculpted Chrissy Teigen, Taylor Swift, Sandra Bullock, and her fair share of Victoria Secret Angels. She was a trainer on Khloe Kardashian’s “Revenge Body.” She’s kind of a big deal, but she also promotes a laid-back approach to fitness, with classes that make students feel like they’re “dancing with their girlfriends.”

Why Travel & Hospitality Brands Can’t Ignore the Power of LinkedIn Pulse for B2B Marketing
As a hotel or travel brand, if you’re not focusing your attention on LinkedIn Pulse, you’re missing out on a potentially huge opportunity and audience. In April 2017, LinkedIn reached an impressive milestone, as it confirmed over 500 million people use its professional social network. Yet the platform often doesn’t enjoy the same level of affection nor respect as other, seemingly more trendy networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

 Energizing Hotel Lobbies
Hotel lobbies are undergoing an exciting evolution. Architects, designers, hotel owners, and operators are re-thinking hotel lobbies and transforming them into active social hubs that are becoming the heart of hotels. With flexible designs, professionals are creating spaces that support work and play, dining venues and bars that morph throughout the day, communal tables with computers, library settings for quiet reflections, and game rooms for pure play.
